In the Identity Discussion board 2 I believe that I expressed my ideas clearly and supported them more then in any other paper. I think that this makes the piece not only strong but also in several ways it validates what I am saying. Being able to create and express an opinion on a topic that is not normally thought able provides an amazing feeling and goes unmatched by other papers when compared. When using quotes such as, "Until I can take pride in my language, I cannot take pride in myself" (Anzaldua pg. 82), to me this statement is false. Anzaldua backs this statement up by saying, "I am my language" (Anzaldua pg 82) and later stating that, to me this seems false because from personal feeling I derive something else when thinking about language. I clearly depict these feelings and continue to back them up using Anzaldua’s words and turning them to meet the meaning that I need to back up my thoughts. To me this shows a deeper level of thinking and as a writer shows my strength in not only providing quotes but in being able to organize my feelings and project them using the support of texts.

Voice and Audience Introduction
I chose to review my post of the Wallet because I feel like it demonstrates my ability to use voice and project questions into the readers mind and make them actually think about what they are reading. When I said, “What would someone first think that they would find inside my wallet just from its outer appearance? On the outside my wallet is gray, black, covered in skulls, and the leather is very worn and cracked. Personally I would think that there would be heavy metal concert tickets or some sort of horror movie imagery within its contents. Even though this is my wallet, it is still to my surprise that none of the above listed is inside this flimsy cracked leather.” In my opening paragraph it was to entice different thoughts from the reader regarding this wallet and many others. I think that it raises questions but does not provide all the answers, thus making the reading look past the words and make inferences and questions regarding the piece. However, I do not leaving you guessing for long. After getting your brain questions I gently lay down the facts. When stating that my driver’s license was the first card that you see it allows you to slowly bring together more images of what the wallet actually looks like. In this I just made the reader question, answer it themselves and provide the correct answer after. In this not only does the reader think that I am talking directly to them projecting great voice but a sense of personalization when reading the paper. This was a subject that everyone can relate to because everyone either has seen a wallet or owns one. This can apply to a wide verity of people and does not isolate anyone from not being able to relate. I think that when posting to different forums as a reader it made me realize what I need to acquire a deeper curiosity and what allows me to better analyze a piece of writing. After determining what helps me as a reader I then applied it to my writing and made it a goal to connect with everyone and get them involve with the subject I was writing about. I think that in some ways this is a challenge because you are trying to appeal to everyone and get across the same universal message even though each person has different thinking patterns.
Revision Piece Introduction
“Befriending Barbie” by Shari Cauldron and “A Secret Society of Starving” by Mim Udovitch. Community helps different people find new things about themselves as well as new interests. In these stories they show how community affects different characters and the way it plays into their day-to-day life.
About five years ago I became friends with a new group of “metal heads”. This group has taught me many new things about myself. This group of people is what I believe to be my very first community that I actually felt a part of, the Metal community. If it wasn’t for this community that I speak of, I really don’t think I would be the person I am today. Before I joined this group of people, I was trying way too hard to fit in and be cool with everyone, and now that I look back at these memories, I realize that how hard I was trying was actually working against me. This group was the exact opposite of how I viewed life. My life made basically an 180-degree turn. I’ve learned more about myself over these 5 years than any time prior. I have learned about myself are some of my favorite things that have happened to me. This community helped me learn that I do not care about how others perceive me. People’s perception of me once was one of the most important things to me. Now that I can truly allow myself to be me all the time, I am so much happier. Another thing that I have learned about myself through this community is that I have talents, which I would have never before imagined. This community has taught me that I am a musician and a better one than what I could have imagined ever being. I’ve learned that I am competitive with just about everything, probably more than what I should be. I am very thankful for my community and everything that the “metal heads” have helped me learn about myself.
Critical Thinking Introduction
Critical Thinking Introduction
During the analysis of the paper I wrote for District 9, I came across several different sentences that demonstrate my ability to depict different situations and explain the details of what is occurring. In the following sentences I am able to explain different things that are going on in the movies. When doing this I further explain their actions and the situations where this is observable. “One way this movie demonstrates what it is to be an outsider is by the hostility between humans and aliens. From the time that the aliens touched Earths ground they were outsiders. The customs of these aliens were different than that of a human and this caused tension between the two species. Riots started because of how badly humans wanted the aliens to be segregated from their species. Once the aliens became segregated from humans they became even more of an outsider.” When writing this I clearly explain the differences between the two species and how that plays into their ability to get along and/or fighting. I feel as though this is a strong analysis because of the comparing and contrasting that I talk about. I think that this is an example of how my writing has progressed over the last couple of months. Instead of just looking at what they give you I am able to break down their actions to find the deeper message that may be there. It simply doesn’t stop at “They don’t get along because they are different.” Instead I am able to dive deep into the differences that they have and further explain their actions and motives. I feel as though this helps in the support of my paper because it shows the reader that I am seeing the whole picture and able to describe in greater details the trials that each species could face and why they choose to go this route. Supporting evidence such as quotes and references to the movies always help back up or prove a point better than simply stating my opinion. This drives the reader into a sense of security that I know what I am talking about and therefore am a trustworthier source.
